What if Boardwalk, Park Place, or Reading Railroad was named after you?

We all know the names of the properties of the best selling board game in the world from countless hours of rolling the dice and landing on these properties, going bankrupt or wiping our friends out. How incredible would it be to have a degree of immortality by having those properties named for you?

Gozer Games, the Chicago-based brainchild of its founder and president, Matthew Duhan, is offering just that. People who support the Kickstarter for their fourth and newest game, Titans of Industry TM, can gain a degree of immortality by having properties in the game named after them. Kickstarter is a crowd-funding web site for creative products that Gozer Games has used to launch previous games. For a pledge of $250 or more, you get a building named after you or your company, along with a copy of Titans of Industry TM and other bonuses.

Titans of Industry TM is a competitive board game for gaming entrepreneurs set in the 1920s, a time of much industrial building and growth. It is what is known as a Euro-style game, which has seen a dramatic increase in popularity lately, appearing everywhere from Time and Wired magazines to popular TV shows like Big Bang Theory. In Titans of IndustryTM, players invest in building factories and businesses, in order to produce goods and sell them to gain victory points. It is a delicate balance of money, production, and goals. The person who best manages their buildings and goals will win.

You can find the Kickstarter page for Titans of IndustryTM at http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/gozergames/titans-of-industry-board-game

Titans of Industry is an inventive worker placement game set in the 1930s lets you buy factories and businesses, produce goods, and sell them for victory!

It is the 1920s, a time of much industrial building and growth. In this board game, you must invest in building factories and businesses, in order to produce goods and sell them to gain victory points. It is a delicate balance of money, production, and goals. The person who can best manage their buildings and meet their goals in 7 turns will win.

Each player starts the game with 4 workers and $6000. Every turn, players first buy buildings, then place workers on those buildings or on the board. Factories allow you to produce goods, while Businesses allow you to sell those goods for money or victory points. A good player needs to balance their production and sales, and encourage other players to sell with them to maximize sales. Board elements allow players to take advantage of bonuses, such as extra production, building improvements, and Corporate Strategy cards. Corporate Strategy cards help give players additional goals and direction, by specifying additional ways to gain victory points.

At the end of 3 turns, on years 1923, 1925, and 1927, upkeep will be due, and players must pay to maintain their buildings, or will need to take out loans. Players will need to sell enough goods before then to have enough money to cover the costs, as loans are worth negative victory points at the end of the game. After year 1927, whoever has the most victory points from combined sales, buildings, and Corporate Strategy cards wins the game.

Titans of Industry is a rich worker placement/resource management Euro-style game. It plays 3 to 5 players, and plays approximately 20-25 minutes per player

First up, Game Paradise reviewed Zombie Ninja Pirates. They loved it, saying

It’s humorous and easy to play… I could certainly see this game travelling with us to the bar, or being used as a filler game. It’s silly, and sometimes silly is exactly what you are looking for.

Check out the full review.

Next up is Father Geek. He reviewed both Zombie Ninja Pirates and Vampire Werewolf Fairies. Both were a “big hit”, scoring 3.7 out of 5.

Zombie Ninja Pirates is a fun little game which is most certainly in the “beer and pretzels” category or, for our little geeks, “apple juice and graham crackers”. [T]he game does exceedingly well. Fast to teach, fast to set up, and fast to play. The variable ways to get points and how your Type cards influence your overall ability to get points keeps the game interesting and the very creative way of keeping track of points during the game make it easy to scan the table to determine every player’s current standing if the game should end. The end result is a fun and fast game full of geek humor that is not meant to be taken seriously, but can be seriously played. For this reason, I’ll be most pleased to bring it to my game table during my next game night.

We couldn’t be happier to receive such a prestigious award!

The Gaming Genius Awards were started in 2011 “to recognize genius and creativity in every aspect of the hobby game industry, in a way that reflects expert opinion and not market consensus.” “The Gaming Genius Awards, although new, are intended to be in line with how awards outside the hobby game industry are given out and thus, representing the industry as a whole.” It is a great honor to receive this award, and Gozer Games is thrilled to be the first recipient of the Golden Pawn for Best Non-Collectible Card Game.

Vampire Werewolf Fairies and the original Zombie Ninja Pirates are both available for purchase in our store.
