Hey, Matthew! I bought a copy from you at GAMA Trade Show and ran my first demo of your game here at Curious Games in Alamogordo, New Mexico. The four of us had a lot of fun, but we ran into a rules interpretation conflict regarding the Lightning Round.

In it, you say “play as many cards as possible.” My wife and I took it to mean that if you could make as many valid plays as possible out of your hand, and if you had more than one Action card in your hand, you could use them. Another person took it as it’s one final round for everyone, but the normal 1 Action or Object from your hand and using 1 Object in front of you was the rule.

Which is it?

It was great meeting you at GTS, and you have my great respect for making a game with one side of one page for rules! I only wish I had had some copies of Zombie Cafe that I could have given you one.

Thanks for the post, and great question! Your wife is correct in her interpretation. During the Lightning Round, you are no longer restricted to only playing 1 card from your hand and 1 Object from the table. You can play as many Object and Action cards as are legally possible to play (you still cannot double up on Types, or play a Type without the appropriate Object or Action, for example) from your hand and your Chest, trying to maximize your points and minimize your opponents’ points.

Also note, though you didn’t ask, that the Reset card does not reset the game after the Lightning Round begins. As the card is worded, you shuffle the discards and place them back on top of the draw pile. Since you are no longer drawing cards after the Lightning Round begins, and the END GAME card does not go into the discard pile, playing this card has no effect.

Thanks so much for buying the game! I’m glad that you enjoyed it.
